Fighting Street  Hudson Soft (Alfa System)1988These are the streets. And there are no rules when you do battle here.
STREETFIGHTER is strictly survival of the fittest against 8 of the baddest dudes from around the world.
Watch out for flying scissor kicks, lethal Ninja weapons, and other evil tricks.
Block their attacks while you counter with jabs and roundhouse kicks.
Don't drop your guard cause these guys aren't just b-b-b-b-bad. They're "Bad to the Bone."***
[37]***A perfect arcade-conversion of the first 'Street Fighter' game and a launch game for the PC-Engine CD-ROM. Too bad that the game itself isn't very good and nowhere near as good as the famous sequels. The characters just don't move smoothly enough. Otherwise the graphics are quite OK. The music is very good as well (no wonder since CD-quality music was rare in 1988). The speech on the other hand is one of the worst I've ever heard in a game. Except the music the game makes no use of the CD-ROM capabilities. No typical cut-scenes or other gimmicks.

NoRiKo  Hudson Soft (Alfa System)1988This game was one of the two launch games for the PC-Engine CD-ROM system. Though it can hardly be called a game. You are in the role of a fanboy of a Japanese singer named Noriko Ogawa and visit one of her concerts. After the concert her manager gives you the opportunity to spend one day with her. You have the choice between a few activities (e.g. shopping or going to a disco), then you go to her home and play some mini-games like Jankenpon (Scissors-Paper-Stone) or a quiz about her life. Then she says 'Thanks and Goodbye'. That is all. There is no real goal in this game (at least I didn't found one) and it's very short. labelimageminimize
Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair  Hudson Soft;NEC HE (Alfa System)1989A good mix of shoot'em up and platform game and quite different than other games in the Wonder Boy series. The 2-player simultaneous mode is a great idea. Only complaint I have is the fact that the CD media is only used for the nice music. No intro, no speech or other things you normally expect from a PC-Engine CD-ROM game.***Join young Adam and Laura as they embark on a fantastic adventure in this comical action/shooting game. Featuring beautiful music brought to life by the power of the CD-ROM, the game consists of 14 rounds packed with cute monster enemies. Players can either play alone as Adam (or play with a friend controlling Laura) as they battle their way through round after round. The first half of each round is the action scene, where players must avoid obstacles and pits. Use your Power Boost weapons against enemies and restore your Life Force with food as you head for the gate at the end. The second half is the exhilarating shooting scene, where players must shoot down flying enemies. Take out the boss at the end to clear the round and move to the next one. labelimagesubject
